While I am a Red Sox fan, it is the only color that I don't particularly care for. So when I received the most recent issue of Piecework I was intrigued, because it is dedicated to the color red. This issue explores the historical challenges and methods for dyeing fiber red, and explores the traditional uses of this color in various fiber arts throughout history. It got me to thinking about how one could strategically use red even if it wasn't a favored color (though I'm still not sure how I would use the color red). So I took a quick lap around my home and snapped some shots of all the red I could find.

Baby Blanket Beginnings
Well, the voting was so close that Paul had the final vote. Interestingly, all of the fellow knitters who cast a vote, voted for the same pattern. See the reveal after the break...

Getting Ready!
My yarn is wound up into cakes and ready to become a baby blanket. It's still a tight race between the three patterns, so if you haven't yet cast your vote you have until 5:00 pm PST today to do so!
Go to this post to see the options and cast your vote!

Fun Knitting!
In preparation for baby blanket knitting, I thought I would go through the current WIPs (works in progress) that I have. Mind you, I am ignoring projects that are hibernating or in time-out.

Help me choose a baby blanket
After feeling cooped up in the house due to the recent snowstorm, I took my sweet time getting back to work. Sadly, I'm not even sure what I spent last week doing. My productivity is back and stronger than before. I did take some time last week to outline all the unfinished projects downstairs (where our bedrooms are). I have decided that the upstairs is in an okay state, but boy that downstairs is in terrible shape (please reference this post if you don't believe me). With smaller portions of these projects clearly outlined, I feel like I can dedicate more time to some creative pursuits.

Mystery Knit-A-Long
The Rose City Yarn Crawl Mystery Knit Along continues. In fact, today is the release of the last clue. With that in mind, I decided to post the progress I have made thus far on my shawelette. I even made some modifications on clue #3 that I will explain when we get there.

Snow Day Dreaming
The meteorologists in here in Portland always seem to predict snow, only for school children citywide to feel disappointed when it's only rain and they have to go to school like normal. Today, they had it right, and I am sitting on the couch looking out the window to see a nearly whited out scene before me! Be sure that I am snuggled tightly by a bulky sweater, with wool socks on my feet and a hand-knit blanket on my lap, so there is no need for more knits. But there is one thing I would love to have today...

Organizing Ideas
I love the Internet. It can be kind of a problem, because instead of doing I end up dreaming. Before Pinterest, I was fairly able to contain my obsessive nature. Prior to Pinterest, my main source of organizing daydreams was a Ravelry group that mainly talked about knitting with the yarn you have on hand and ways to storage and organize that yarn until it made it into the clothes or accessories rotation. Here's a few of my favorite pinned ideas (which are not organized into clear categories, furthering the time wasting. But if I were to go through and organize how much more time would be used?)
