This weekend was full of successes. In fact, with the husband on his vacation, this may be a 14-day weekend full of successes. The first little success was figuring out how to post pictures into my blog directly from my phone.
The biggest success so far was the completion of my second half marathon. I officially shaved 15 minutes off of my time (I don't believe a bathroom break should count against me, and there was a line?!?! Not sure how there was a line at the port-a-potties half way through the race, but there was). Aside from the bathroom delay, the race was wonderful! Beautifully designed swag, well organized start and finish areas, and the wonders of wine country. If I decide to do another half marathon next year, this may be the one to do.
A second huge success was finally finding a large wall hanging for our upstairs. The husband just wants it finished, but I need to love what goes up. So there we were enjoying a post movie frozen yogurt, and I suggest heading to Ross to see if they have any husband-worthy luggage. The short version of the story is that he now knows not to get tricked into taking me to Ross. The long version is that he suggested I look at the mirrors they had, which happened to bring me by their large paintings as well. And that is where I fell in love with a massive floral piece that matches wonderfully with our accent wall, tile floor, purple couch!
Finally, I have only two pieces on the needles right now.
A color-work hat and mitt set pattern sample. The picture isn't great, but I wanted to point out a great tip I use when I work in the round with multiple smaller sections. I put the stitch markers along most of the piece, but I leave on off at the join point. The needles mark this second for me, but I add a safety pin to the bottom just as a reminder of where this section begins and ends. It saves me the trouble of losing that one stitch marker or my place.
Along with a lovely blue tweedy sweater for fall. It is going quickly, but I have not make a sweater in pieces in a while. Hopefully the finishing does not take me too long.
