Its a little surprising, even to me, that I have finished some knitting in the last almost six weeks. Come to think of it, I didn't do anything during the first two weeks! So really, this is what I have done in the last four weeks. It has been especially easy to get projects going now that nap time is a bit more predictable and the nighttime sleeping has become more plentiful.
The second of two Baby Surprise Jackets was started and completed after her arrival (I had to have at least one ready for her when she came out). I also got out to Joannes and bought buttons that have been sewn onto both sweaters. I didn't realize how strange a number 5 was for button quantities, so I got some cute flowers for the top button and then solid ones for the rest. I figure she may end up wearing these with only the top button done, and those flowers are just sweet.
I love hand knit washcloths! They are the absolute best. With a DK weight cotton-linen blend I made my first few at a slightly loose gauge and they suds up the soap really well. Then I decided to make one with the yarn held double, which makes for some excellent scrubbing feel. So I got to thinking about using double knitting for a washcloth. The first iteration has been in my head for so long its a little strange to have it sitting on my desk with me now. I decided to monogram it, even though on my white side the letters are reversed.
I got this lovely 100% linen yarn at a rummage sale a couple years ago. I loved the light green and yellow color, but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted out of it. So rather than just knit a swatch, I did a simple scarf. I am planning to play around with the washing and blocking step. The label has three different suggestions, so I think I will pair those with some standard blocking techniques and see what I come up with. You will have to be patient to see what the results are.
